Our Wheat Story
When we first added a wheat testing block to our replicated research program in 2018, selling wheat seed wasn’t on our radar. The goal was simply to complement the extensive research we already conducted for breeding programs across the country.
But then something unexpected happened. In those early years, certain varieties kept topping both our internal trials and university trials. By 2021, one variety stood so far ahead that it became our very first wheat product: Buns.
Building on that success, we added Rolls as our second offering—another variety that delivered standout performance across the region. And now, we’ve introduced Muffins, rounding out our current wheat lineup with proven consistency, excellent yield potential, and adaptability that’s hard to beat.
What’s Next
Our work doesn’t stop here. Each season we continue to test dozens of new wheat varieties. Only the very best will earn their way into the Peterson lineup—so expect to see even more top performers in the years ahead.
